June 30, 2006, Newsletter Issue #22: Children's Charities Abound: Think About How you Want to Help, and Pick Your Cause

Tip of the Week

The adage that our children are our future inspires both significant giving to charities that benefit children, and the foundation and operation of such charities. These charities provide a number of services, such as:

• Providing medical and social services to children in the United States and internationally who are sick, poor, orphaned, mal- or under-nourished, or who do not have access to vaccinations and other preventative and/or palliative healthcare.

• Providing or supplementing education for children in underserved areas.

• Building support networks for children who might otherwise not have positive role models.

• Creating homes for orphans or abused children.

When thinking about giving your money, time, or talent to a charity that benefits children, be sure to think about what kind of services you most want to support, and get as much information as you can about how your donation will be used. Due to the abundance of children's charities out there, this can be an opportunity to really select the one that is most aligned with your giving interests.
