July 14, 2006, Newsletter Issue #24: The UN's World Food Program

Tip of the Week

The United Nation's World Food Program is not resigned to hunger; there is more than enough food to feed the world's population. WFP believes that food aid can break the cycle of poverty and hunger. Thus, WGP uses innovative food and relief programs, rehabilitation programs, and development operations to deliver food to the weak and poor around the world.

The World Food Program also works to ensure that people can ultimately secure food through their own efforts. Though sanctioned by the UN, WFP receives no dues or UN assessed contributions. Corporations around the world are a vital source of contributions to WFP's activities, as are individuals who donate cash, services and food.
